Direct School Admission (DSA) for Academic Year 2026

The annual DSA-Sec Exercise allows Primary 6 students to apply to a participating secondary school based on their diverse talents and potential, beyond their performance at the PSLE. Students can consider applying for a secondary school that offers their talent area through DSA-Sec. Upon admission, students develop these talents further in their secondary school. In accepting an offer of admission through DSA-Sec, students are expressing a commitment to study in that school to develop their talent in the chosen area.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent

Direct School Admission (DSA) to Bowen Secondary School

Bowen welcomes students who are currently in Primary 6 (or the equivaleBowen welcomes students who are currently in Primary 6 (or the equivalent) to apply under DSA-Sec for entry to Secondary 1 in Bowen. Bowen is committed to developing students to their fullest potential in both their areas of talent and their studies. 

We strongly encourage those with talents in the following areas to apply for admission to join our Bowen community:

DSA (Entrepreneurship & Innovation / Leadership & Uniformed Groups)

We offer DSA for Boys and Girls in:

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Community Youth Leadership

The programme taps on Bowen’s flagship Changemaker's Programme.

ChANgeMakers aims to nurture Bowenians to advocate social causes and become value creators for Singapore through:

  • A structured 4-year programme which involves them in authentic and relevant social needs in the community.

  • Opportunities to lead and serve at school and community level (e.g. with our wide range of community partners)

  • Courses and workshops (e.g. Design Thinking).

DSA (Performing Arts / Sports and Games)

We offer DSA for Boys and Girls in:

  • Marching Band

  • Badminton

  • Football

The programme aims to develop students’ talents and potential in the above performing arts and sports categories through:

  • Quality and rigorous training by experienced coaches.

  • Extensive range of competition opportunities.

  • Courses and workshops for student-athletes.

Community & Youth Leadership

Achievement/Experience in providing leadership in Values-in-Action (VIA) Programmes in primary school or in community organisations; OR

Participation in business and entrepreneurship programmes in primary school or similar experience in other significant platforms; OR

Participation and/or recognition in projects and competitions related to design and invention


Must pass interview.

 

Shortlisted applicants

  • will be invited for an interview with the School Leaders and relevant programme Key Personnel,

  • submit a personal statement on a topic given on the day of interview,

  • share a portfolio in the relevant area of application.

Entrepreneurship

Marching Band

Achievement / Awards at Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentations; OR

Minimum 2 years of playing an instrument or in a Music CCA;

Must pass audition and interview.

Shortlisted applicants

  • will be invited for an audition in our school,

  • may bring their own musical equipment.

 

Based on the audition results, the school will further shortlist applicants for a second-round interview with the School Leaders, CCA Key Personnel and Teachers.

Badminton

Achievement/Awards in National Schools’ competitions / international competitions; OR

Participation at National Schools' competitions, Zonal, National or Club level;

Must pass selection trial and interview.

Shortlisted applicants

  • will be invited for a trial in our school,

  • may bring their own sports equipment.

    Based on trial results, the school will further shortlist applicants for a second-round face interview with the School Leaders, CCA Key Personnel and Teachers.

Football

Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.

  • Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.

  • You will receive notification from the school by Mid July 2025, if your child has been shortlisted to undergo Direct School Admission (DSA) selection.

  • All applicants will receive their application outcomes between 25 Aug and 4 Sep 2025.

Centralised DSA-Sec Application Process

Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal*. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 7 May 2025, 11am to 3rd June 2025, 3pm.
