About the Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP)

The Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP) is a Ministry of Education (MOE) initiative through which every secondary school student owns a school-prescribed Personal Learning Device (PLD).

Every Bowenian a Future-Ready and Responsible Digital Learner

At Bowen, the PDLP is central to our vision of nurturing every Bowenian to be a future-ready and responsible digital learner. Through their PLDs, students are empowered to take ownership of their learning, collaborate meaningfully with peers and teachers, and grow as confident, discerning digital citizens.

We believe technology, when used with purpose and integrity, is a powerful enabler of 21st Century Competencies. Guided by our R-E-A-D-Y BE! learning routines, Bowenians develop the knowledge, skills and values to navigate the digital world responsibly — learning actively, creating meaningfully, and making a positive difference to themselves and others as Learners, Leaders and Champions.

Prescribed Personal Learning Device (PLD)

The school has selected the Chromebook as the prescribed PLD for our students. Each PLD bundle consists of:

• Convertible Chromebook with stylus

• Laptop charger

• Laptop carrying case

• USB mouse

Active Learning with the PLD

As active learners, Bowenians take ownership of their learning by making sense of what they learn and deepening their knowledge through meaningful use of their PLD.

Self-management is an essential part of this — students are expected to organise their learning, collaborate effectively and enhance their productivity using platforms such as:

• Student Learning Space (SLS)

• MOE ICON – Google Workspace tools

• Google Classroom

• Google Calendar

Keeping Devices Safe and Secure

Bowenians are responsible for the safekeeping of their PLDs at all times. Personal lockers are provided for students to store their devices securely during recess, PE lessons, or when the PLD is not in use.

Bowenians should make it a habit to lock their devices away rather than leaving them unattended. In addition, Bowenians are also expected to bring their PLDs home daily — to keep devices safe, charge them fully for the next school day, and support continued learning beyond the classroom.

MOE Device Management Application (DMA)

A Device Management App (DMA) will come pre-installed on all school enrolled PLDs. It supports safe and effective PLD use by managing and protecting devices, filtering inappropriate content, enabling teachers to guide students' device use during lessons, and allowing school administrators to supervise usage.

The DMA has 3 main components supporting PLD use in the classroom and students' cyber wellness:

• Mobile Device Management Service. Manages and updates the PLD, protects it from malicious software, and filters objectionable internet content.

• Classroom Management Service. Helps teachers manage students' PLD use during lessons to support effective teaching and learning.

• Usage Management Service. Enables school administrators to supervise and set limits on students' PLD use after school. Parents/guardians may also be granted access upon request.

PLD Warranty Matters

• If the device is faulty, please approach the school's ICT Service Desk for assistance.

• The school will arrange the collection of devices for Service Centre inspection and warranty claims, and will keep you informed of the warranty outcome once it has been assessed. Upon your device's return, the ICT Service Desk will ensure it is fully re-enrolled and ready for use.

• Do not visit the Service Centre on your own, as serviced devices need to be properly re-enrolled into the school's learning environment before they can be used again — this is something the ICT Service Desk will coordinate on your behalf.

• Students are advised not to bring their devices to third-party vendors for repair, as this will void the warranty.
