Doing Well, Doing Good
Discover how Bowenians turn compassion into action by serving others and creating a positive impact in the community.
Student Leadership in Community Service
Doing Well, Doing Good is exemplified through Bowen Secondary School students' three-tier journey of fostering empathy through inclusive sports. What began as Values-in-Action (VIA) projects with peers from AWWA and MINDS evolved into the formation of inclusive sports teams before expanding further as students mentored young leaders from Rosyth School to design inclusive games, co-creating a more inclusive community.

In 2025, Bowen Community Youth Leaders (CYLs) presented their project to Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and grassroots advisers from Ang Mo Kio GRC, Kebun Baru SMC and Yio Chu Kang SMC during the Ci Yuan Community Club Youth Fest Booth Presentations. The opportunity enabled students to share the impact of their initiative while engaging community leaders in conversations on youth-led service, empathy and inclusion.

The following year, the CYLs were invited to present the project at the Festival of Deeds by Kids – Marketplace of Ideas to former President Mdm Halimah Yacob, now Chancellor of the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), alongside a panel of judges from Temasek Foundation, the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), Care Corner and other community organisations. In recognition of the project's meaningful impact and potential to create lasting change, Project PlayForward was honoured with the Community Champion Award.
